At Caterpillar, we strive every day to improve the quality of life for people in the communities where we operate, here in the United States and around the world. As a result of our efforts and those of other leading companies, America’s business community has decreased emissions, improved energy efficiency, conserved water, reduced waste and protected the environment – achievements that benefit the United States and the entire world.
A new Business Roundtable report, Create, Grow, Sustain: Delivering Shared Success, highlights the sustainability record of more than 150 companies, including ours here at Caterpillar. This is the 10th year Business Roundtable has issued this report and the 10th year we’ve contributed. We are proud of our efforts, which have helped drive sustainable business investment, economic growth and job creation – while improving the communities where all of us work and live.
“We envision a world where people’s basic needs – food, shelter, clean water, sanitation and reliable power – are fulfilled in a sustainable way,” said Caterpillar CEO Jim Umpleby. “We provide work environments, products, services and solutions that make productive and efficient use of resources as we strive to achieve our vision.”
As we celebrate Earth Day, our commitment to restoring natural infrastructure is one example of how we at Caterpillar are ensuring a sustainable future for generations to come. We are collaborating with stakeholders, including Caterpillar dealers and customers, to restore natural infrastructure across the globe – forests, prairies, farmlands, wetlands and coastal landscapes – because natural infrastructure offers economic, environmental and social benefits. Healthy lands also offer the most productive means for removing carbon from the atmosphere, so it can become a valuable component of soils, plants and ecosystems.
